Born in Yakima, Washington, Leon White is a regional, national and international award-winning artist in both painting and sculpture.
In addition to academic courses, he has studied and painted with prominent national and international artists including Edger Whitney, Zoltan Zsabo, Tony Van Hasselt, and Judi Wagner. His art is included in private, public and corporate collections. Some of his paintings and bronzes are available in limited editions.
Leon dedicated his first New York City exhibit in 1980, to a mentor and friend, the late actor/artist, Henry Fonda. That show spawned an invitation to exhibit at The International Center of Fine Contemporary Art in Paris, France.
Leon was the first artist to have two paintings selected for the Long Beach Museum of Arts National Juried Competition in New York City.
Old barns, and country landscapes predominate his work. Inspired by his rural upbringing, he has a strong respect for the natural wonders of the world and tries to capture that essence in his artwork.
His greatest influence is the master artist Andrew Wyeth. Leon is always seeking innovative new ideas for that creative stimulation. He divides his time between painting, stone carving, large steel sculptures, and bronzes.
During the 1980's. Leon also pursued acting and modeling. While these opportunites have taken him around the world with a lifetime of memories, ART has always been his true love and fulfillment.
Leon's philosophy: The beauty of life and nature is so precious and plentiful. One should tap all of his God given talents, pursue them to the best of his ability and share with others everyting he has to offer.
